GAF Master Elite
GAF's highest contractor certification tier, awarded to fewer than 3% of roofing contractors nationally.
What the Certification Requires
GAF Master Elite is the top tier of GAF's three-tier contractor certification program. GAF caps Master Elite status at roughly the top 2% of roofing contractors nationwide, requiring proof of proper licensing and insurance, a minimum customer satisfaction rating, and an annual factory-trained inspection of the contractor's installation practices — unlike the lower Certified™ tier, which mainly requires paperwork.
Why It Matters for Your Warranty
Only Master Elite contractors can offer GAF's Golden Pledge® warranty, which covers both material defects and installation workmanship for up to 25 or 50 years (depending on shingle line) with GAF standing behind the labor, not just the shingles. A standard installer warranty from a non-certified contractor typically covers materials only — if a Master Elite crew installs a roof incorrectly, GAF's own inspectors, not just the contractor, are on the hook for the fix.
